JAMES D. LUMSDEN
Managing Partner

Mr. Lunsden has over 25 years of experience in corporate finance and private equity investing. Mr. Lumsden began his career in 1981 as an investment banker with Kidder, Peabody and Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York City. After moving to Raleigh, he founded and served as Managing Partner of Franklin Street/Fairview Capital, a venture capital management company which sponsors and oversees private equity investments. In addition, he is a founding General Partner of The Halifax Group (a national LBO fund manager) and Oberlin Capital (a federally licensed SBIC).  Mr. Lumsden has extensive experience in sourcing, structuring and managing private investments of all kinds and sizes.

 In 1992, Mr. Lumsden and his partner at GreenHawk, Craig Briner, began working with Cherokee’s CEO to devise and successfully execute strategies to purchase and resolve RTC assets.  Mr. Lumsden and his partners at GreenHawk are working with Cherokee on deal origination and execution in selected markets throughout the Southeast.  Mr. Lumsden received a BA and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
